Housing

The Nipissing First Nation Housing Department in conjunction with Chief and Council and the Housing Committee continue to strive towards providing services and quality housing to the Nipissing First Nation Membership.

Over the last fiscal year the Housing Department worked with the housing committee and completed the following to assist the First Nation Members with their housing needs:

  • NFN Housing Loan Program

The total amount of funds that were mortgaged through the program was $421,625.00.  These loans assisted first nation members to construct new homes and purchase, repair and renovated an existing unit.

  • NFN Housing Repair Loan Programs

A total of four repairs loans in the amount of $118,147.00 were approved for first nation members to construct new homes and a purchase of an existing unit.

  • Royal Bank of Canada On-Reserve Lending Program

Three first nation members were able to construct new homes, one member purchased and made renovations to the home and two members made renovations and repairs to their homes.  These loans totaled $532,700.00

  • Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP Grants) 

The Housing Department assisted thirteen First Nation Members through this program with grants in the amount of $64,000.00.

  • Senior’s Roof Repair Grant Program

Chief and Council and the Housing Committee have approved and implemented the Senior’s Roof Repair Program.  This program will allow the seniors who are over sixty five years of age and have a total household income less than $30,000.00 a grant to a maximum of $3,000.00 to make necessary repairs to their roof.
This program was implemented in the fall of 2008.
