Boat Registration & Safety Guidelines

A reminder that all operators of motor boats, including personal watercraft, are required to hold a boating licence or register their vessel (we recommend doing both). The OPP are monitoring for compliance and you could be fined $250 for not having your licence or registration on hand.

If your boat is powered by one or more motors adding up to 7.5 kW (10 hp) or more, you must get it licensed, unless you register it. You must also license dinghies or tenders you carry aboard or tow behind a larger boat.
