Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) is proposing to refurbish approximately 150 structures along the existing 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line (Circuit H23S/H24S). The project area is located along the transmission line from the City of Greater Sudbury to the Township of Mattawan, including the Municipality of Markstay- Warren, the Municipality of West Nipissing, and the City of North Bay.

This type of project is considered routine maintenance work with relatively minor effects, and is subject to the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Minor Transmission Facilities (Hydro One, 2016), in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA is a streamlined planning process that has proven effective in ensuring minor transmission projects that have a predictable range of effects have feasible environmental mitigation and/or protection measures in place. The Class EA Process contains screening provisions that may apply to this project.
